LIVING
FOR GENERATIONS

(THAT OUR CULTURE AND TRADITION MAY NOT EXTINCT)

Having being in sojourn and in the United Kingdom for over a decade now, I have come to realise urgent need for those of us diaspora and especially the Yorubas to address the negative attitudes and postures adopted towards Yoruba language, traditions and cultures viz-a-viz the impediment this has caused to the entrenchment and passing on of Yoruba culture and traditions to the on-coming generations. The situations are now at dangerously alarming rate and therefore immediate and decisive steps need be taken to stem deterioration of Yoruba language, traditions and culture in our society, if we do not want to be extincted by the end of this century.

APPROACH
That Yoruba language, culture and tradition may be sustained and not die so that we do not lose our identity, we have mapped out some approaches and strategies which we believe will work wonders in addressing the inadequacies and shortcomings identified in transmitting our language, culture and tradition to our children and to the on coming generations.

  • Establishment of Yoruba global network schools
  • Advocacy and awareness campaign on the danger of neglecting Yoruba language, culture and tradition
  • Fashion and modelling shows on Yoruba customes and attires
  • Yoruba discussions and phone-in programmes on television,
  • Entertainments, music and clubs
  • Educative programmes, quiz in Yoruba knowledge, wisdom of our fathers, and competition on the beauty of Yoruba language, cultures and tradition, to mention a few.

It is important to state that all the aforementioned approaches would not be achieved without the backing and support of our fathers and Yoruba leaders and people that matters in the Yoruba world.

FUNDING
It is our intention to get the project up and running through donations from our Royal Fathers, Yoruba leaders of thought both in and outside the governments in South Western Nigeria and in other Yoruba speaking parts of the world Like Benin Republic, Cote de Voire, Brazil etc. We also expect to receive funding from the British Council, UNESCO, Yoruba Associations/Elders’ Groups, interested philanthropists and other notable individuals around the globe.
